The penultimate patch!


Here's the game's second last patch before release. Aside from new content, significant changes and improvements, it contains many important bug fixes, which should cover all the game's issues so far:

  • A whole new game mode: Arena, an endless boss rush complete with a new hand-crafted map!
  • Free(r) character creation and growth:
    • You can now freely distribute your character's attributes on creation!
    • Many improvements to the character creation screen, most notably previews for each class's equipment.
    • Nerfed the attribute gain on level up and picking red boss orbs from 3 to 2.
    • HOWEVER, you can now choose what attribute one of those points will go to, with a new level up screen!
    • Equip Weight is now more lenient (from 0.6 kg per point, to 0.8).
    • Carry Weight is now also more lenient (from 1.5 kg per point, to 1.6).
  • Some significant changes to spells:
    • All buff spells had their power increased from +20% to +50%, but they can no longer stack.
    • Metamorphosis and Boost will now mantain the MP% (usually increasing it) like Harden does with HP%.
    • Nerfed Summoned Blades' durability again, from an average of 250 to 200.
    • Nerfed the Ice Spike freeze effect duration by 25%.
    • Purify now shoots out twice as much ailments as it heals.
    • Ailment spells are now 20% stronger.
    • Enemies now won't try to cast spells they shouldn't (buff themselves when they're already buffed, transform themselves when they're already transformed, inflict ailments if the player already has them, etc).
    • More spells indicate where they hit the player from.
  • Small changes to powers from rings and boss stones:
    • Buffed the Heightened Reflexes power's chance to automatically dodge attacks from 20% to 25%.
    • Renamed the "Heightened Reflexes" power to "Dodge on Reflex".
    • The Boundless power will now visually increase your steps instead of decrease them.
  • General changes to ailments:
    • There are now note tips describing the exact effect of status ailments.
    • Ailments no longer last longer on enemies.
    • Nerfed the ailment infliction of enchanted shields by 70%, to bring it in line with enchanted weapons.
    • Artifacts now only inflict 1 status ailment instead of 4, but for twice the duration.
  • The Deprived class now starts with 4 random trash materials.
  • Merchants will now have a one-hit tolerance before attacking you.
  • Merchants will now also leave half of the doors (that are not locked) open to you.
  • Artifacts now consume, or grant, half as much Lamp Oil (from 10 minutes' worth, to 5).
  • You can now press the shortcut buttons in the inventory to quickly assign an item to the shortcut bar.
  • Trying to open a locked door or chest with the wrong item (lockpick or key) will now display "Can't lockpick" or "Key won't fit" instead of just "Locked".
  • The Slime boss will now corrode all equipment proportionately on touch, and scaling with its Intelligence (Magical Power) instead of Strength (Physical Power). Since the boss has 2.5x less INT than STR, the corrosion has been buffed by 3x to make it more dangerous.
  • Arrow traps will no longer incessantly and annoyingly hit bells.
  • Slightly better Pause screen text visuals.
  • Bug fixes and improvements:
    • Improvements to audio loading should greatly reduce hard crashes on going to the next floor.
    • Decreased the opacity of all fullscreen effects.
    • Fixed crossbow arrows' damage and speed increasing with Strength instead of just with the weapon's Attack.
    • Fixed rare crashes when consuming items in a shortcut that produced another item (empty bottles from drinking potions, and bags of gold from artifacts that created them).
    • Fixed more bugs in the inventory when combining items using the combine shortcut.
    • Fixed the spawn on wall bug. Definitely.
    • Fixed the gamepad still rumbling when advancing to the next floor.
    • Fixed the lamp not turning on, if it's off, when you get the first ending.
    • Other small fixes and adjustments.
  • You now have company at the bonfire.

The next patch will be a huge content addon, so stay tuned! Expect twice as much of everything! (Except dungeons, those are set and final)
